Yes, ignorant leaders are the greatest threat to our planet as the power they possess is put to use only for certain matters like political affairs, rather than matters which need greater attention like global warming. Some may say that other things, such as tree cutting, garbage thrown in the water, food and water waste, etc… may be a bigger threat, but even those situations’ solutions are in the hands of the leaders of the world.

They have a lot of power to stop all the bad things happening to our planet, so it is extremely important that they are aware of the current situation of the world, rather than being ignorant and becoming a great danger to the planet and everything on it. “The greatest threat to our planet is the belief that someone else will save it.” is a great quote said by Robert Swan, who was the first person to walk on both poles.  

It is not only the leaders’ fault if the planet is in danger, but it is also every person on earth’s duty to protect our planet, instead of depending on leaders to solve all the problems. Not only that but it is also our decision to select the leaders who we want to make the planet a better place but again, we have to be very careful when choosing a leader because we don’t want someone who will just harm the environment.

Some examples of ignorant leaders and how they misused their power are when one of them suggested to not wear face masks in corona time and people blindly followed this, as they thought that the leader always gave expert advice. Be it a leader who doesn’t do anything about global warming, a huge threat to the planet, or someone who suggested inhaling chlorine bleach to cure coronavirus, when medical experts later explained that bleach going into the lungs was extremely dangerous. Another example was a very dangerous and ignorant leader, Adolf Hitler, who proposed to go to war with several other countries just because of his hate for a certain type of people.

So, our decision to vote for someone and trust them with that power is a very important decision as that person would be responsible for all the changes they cause to the planet and everything on it.

Some ways to help save the planet are reducing water wastage, using electricity wisely, and putting the three r’s in action- reduce, reuse and recycle by using less plastic and harmful substances.

To summarize the topic, ignorant leaders may be the biggest threat to the planet, but it is also everyone’s duty to help the leaders protect it so that they and Earth can live longer and healthier. It is not only a bigger advantage to us if the planet is healthy, but it is also an advantage for plants, animals and future generations as well.
